This Week Was A Gut-Punch To The Socialists

You need ice for that burn?

This is what you can say to the Democratic Socialists of America this week, who were torched online and at the ballot box. If this is a preview of the midterms, where races that the Left still thinks are theirs to lose, Republicans should be praying these socialists keep running. And keep losing.

The Bolshevik beatdown hit a boiling point Tuesday night, when Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary handed one of the DSA’s favorite comrades a gut-punch. Francesca Hong, the DSA darling, Thanksgiving abolitionist, and perpetually aggrieved revolutionary, entered Election Day as the runaway favorite, up more than 20 points in the final poll. Then, presumably because the DSA overlords Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t endorse her and she’s white-adjacent, she lost to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley by 3,000 votes.

The communists will have to wait a few more years before their revolution plagues Wisconsin.

But it says something about Wisconsin’s Democratic primary voters that, by the narrowest of margins, they chose the guy who merely looks like a moderate over his anti-American, anti-cop, anti-border, anti-prison alternative.

Hong wasn’t the only self-inflicted wound this week. Over in Michigan, newly minted Democratic Terror Sympathizing Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed got caught scrubbing his own very, very radical paper trail. I know — totally shocking that a guy who campaigns with the “America deserved 9/11” dude would also have some skeletons in his armoire.

CNN’s KFile found he’d quietly deleted or privatized close to a hundred old videos and posts: defending “defund the police,” of course; explaining why “fireworks suck” and Americans should find another way to celebrate the Fourth of July, obviously; and floating the ingenious idea of swapping the Second Amendment for a constitutional “right to have health care.” Why didn’t we think of this sooner? Hand over your guns, and in exchange, we’ll force you to cover everyone else’s copays. Seems fair.

His campaign’s defense is that these were just old “Woke 1” takes that “don’t reflect his beliefs today.” How convenient that Democrats have simply decided you’re not allowed to remember what they said five minutes ago. I swear, the Left is like a toxic, manipulative ex that will drive you mad with all their backpedaling nonsense.

Speaking of professional gaslighters: AOC spent the weekend simultaneously denouncing her silly old ways while still arming the very ideology she pretends to have outgrown. The 36-year-old, who’s dragged the media through an absolute rollercoaster this week, kicked things off on ABC’s Sunday show, “This Week,” with a banger: “Woke 1 was crazy.” Sorry for amplifying defund-the-police rhetoric, racial essentialism, and maximalist identity politics that produced billions in property damage and a homicide spike! Didn’t mean it. Also, let’s run it back on steroids.

Then “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl asked her, point blank, if she’s still a DSA member. Her answer: “Of the New York City chapter.” Only of the New York City chapter. Ah. As if DSA is a gym with regional pricing tiers and she just hasn’t upgraded to the national plan. It’s not how membership in a national organization works, but it’s a great way to keep the socialist card in her wallet for a rainy day while telling swing voters she’s basically Joe Manchin now.

Granted, she’s doing all this while going through a very public breakup. TMZ confirmed Monday that AOC and her fiancé of four years, Riley Roberts, split roughly two years ago (a fact she conveniently left out while documenting her egg-freezing journey in a series of Instagram stories over the weekend). Welcome to 2026, where you log onto social media hoping for cute animal videos and instead get a sitting congresswoman narrating her hormone injections, because “girl power.”

Sigh.

Don’t let the workout clips, the daily rants, or the day-in-the-life-of-an-egg-freezer content distract you. AOC is a Marxist in waiting, a Bolshevik hiding in the rough, waiting to pounce on the mensheviks the second it’s politically convenient. Welcome to Woke 2.

Socialists had a bad week, no question. Hong’s collapse in a key battleground and El-Sayed’s frantic delete-sesh expose the limits of purity-test politics outside deep-blue enclaves; primary voters, even Democratic ones, apparently aren’t completely buying what the DSA is selling. But that doesn’t mean the DSA is gone. Democrats are still riding shotgun on the socialist train, hurtling toward the cliff. The infrastructure, the online energy, the donor networks, and the habit of nominating people who hate this country more than Hitler, remain intact. One narrow loss and a few scrubbed posts can’t undo an institutional capture that’s been poisoning America for years.

The socialist burn is slow, and socialists themselves know this. In 1927, commie Norman Thomas predicted Americans would never vote for socialism outright, but that under the name of “liberalism,” they’d adopt every fragment of the socialist program without noticing. This is the DSA strategy in a nutshell. And it’s exactly why Republicans should keep pointing at the anti-American record and the failed policies now, while the burn is still fresh.

Because this week, at least, the revolution needs some ice.
