Trump-Endorsed Alfonso Leads Newest Poll by Huge Margin

New polling in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District shows that 26-year-old Michael Alfonso has a +21% lead among voters in the Republican primary race for the U.S. House of Representatives, indicating that he has a good chance of winning the election in August.

TIPP Insights conducted a poll for the League of American Workers between July 2 and July 12 among 481 registered voters, and 31% of voters said that if the Republican primary elections were held the day they responded to the survey, they would cast their vote for Alfonso.

The next closest candidate was the U.S. Marine veteran Kevin Hermening, who garnered 10% of Republican voters’ support in the poll. Even with the poll’s 6.2% margin of error, Alfonso has a strong lead over his rival candidates.

Compared with a poll conducted by TIPP Insights in May, Alfonso’s lead has increased +7% in the last two months, rising from +14% to +21%.

Alfonso, married to Evita Duffy-Alfonso, is the son-in-law of Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and is running for the seat held by his father-in-law from 2011 to 2019.

His connections to the Duffy family make voters 43% more likely to support him, according to the poll.

President Donald Trump has endorsed Alfonso, who is running as a “Hometown America-First Fighter.” The grandson of immigrants who fled Cuba during the Castro Revolution, Alfonso’s top issues include affordable home ownership, school choice, and local agriculture—aligning closely with the current administration’s priority issues.

Fifty percent of voters said they were more likely to vote for him because of the president’s endorsement.

The poll also reported that Trump currently has a -1% net approval among voters, with 51% of voters rating the administration’s performance in handling inflation as “poor” and “unacceptable.”

Regarding the Iran war, 42% of voters said the administration has handled conflict in Iran poorly, and 42% of voters think Israel has too much influence on U.S. policy decisions.

Immigration and border security was the only issue polled that voters said the Trump administration has handled well, with a +9% approval rating.

Even as voters cite disapproval of the administration’s performance, Trump’s say still carries sway in midterm elections, and half of Republican voters are more likely to support the candidate Trump endorsed.

Wisconsin’s primary elections are on Aug. 11 and will show if Trump’s support for Alfonso is enough to help him secure the victory currently predicted by the polls.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
