Trump Turns Beloved Rubio Meme Into Birthday Gift
President Donald Trump turned a long-running joke into a birthday gift for Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who turned 55 on May 28.

Trump has already tasked Rubio with several official jobs within the administration — which spawned constant speculation whenever a new vacancy appeared — and a viral meme was born.
An Oval Office photo of Rubio slouched on a couch — wearing an expression that suggests he’s not thrilled with the way things are going — became the template for hundreds of potential new jobs for the Secretary of State/Acting National Security Adviser/acting administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/acting archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Trump and other White House staffers capitalized on the popularity of the meme, and put together a collage — featuring dozens of iterations of the “Rubio realizing” meme. The finished product was framed in gold and presented to Rubio for his birthday.

The central photo, which appears to be the un-doctored original image, has President Trump’s signature scrawled across it, along with the note, “YOU ARE GREAT!”
The other images — 68 in total — each show a different meme version of the original photo, and they all bear the signatures of other White House staffers.
The photo that spawned a thousand Rubios was taken during an Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in February of 2025, and Rubio told Lara Trump on her Fox News show “My View” that he did not like the picture. He explained that particular couch, without a pillow, often caused people to sink lower than they might otherwise.
But once the photo took on a life of its own, it grew on him, he added: “It turned into this other thing … and it’s funny.”

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
