WATCH: Dem Candidate Has A Question After DUI Arrest. It’s A Doozy.

Washington state Democrat Krista Perez — who is seeking a seat in the state House — told a police officer after her August DUI arrest that she didn’t “know how to get out” of the police vehicle.

Perez was seen on police bodycam footage as she sat in the back of the vehicle, with her hands cuffed behind her back, alternately sobbing and begging for help as she complained that the handcuffs were sliding down her arms and cutting her hands.

Police in Tacoma, Washington, said that Perez was arrested after her 2019 Chevrolet Silverado allegedly ran into a parked vehicle on South G Street, FOX News reported. The impact of the collision, which reportedly occurred just after midnight on August 11, ultimately damaged several other vehicles.

When police arrived, they asked Perez about the collision — and while she admitted to drinking wine, she said that she did not understand what was happening.

“Did you get into an accident here?” an officer asked her.

“I did not,” she replied.

When the officer asked Perez what had happened, she said, “I don’t know. I’ve never been in an accident before.”

The conversation quickly went sideways after the officer asked Perez whether or not she had been drinking that evening.

“I just had some wine,” she said, and when the officer followed up by asking how much wine she’d had, she insisted that it had been only one glass.

She struggled to answer when the officer asked how big the glass had been, saying, “I think you might need to contact the business.”

On a sobriety scale of zero to 10 — with zero being completely sober — Perez first rated herself a zero and then later revised that to a four.

The officer asked if she was willing to submit to field sobriety tests — which he reminded her were voluntary — and she said that she’d prefer to “go home first.”

“You’re not going to go home first. I’m going to tell you that right now, okay? So your options between the test, yes or no, that’s going to be determined tonight, right now, not when you go home. So would you like to take these tests or no?” he asked.

She said again that she wanted to “go home first,” which the officer interpreted as a refusal. He placed her under arrest, and Perez was charged with DUI along with a refusal enhancement.

The remainder of the footage shows Perez in the vehicle, sobbing and begging for help as she complained about her arm hurting because of the handcuffs.

When they arrived at the station, she began sobbing loudly, repeating, “Please help me, please help me.”

The door opened, and she directed her plea at the officer: “Please help me.”

When she explained that the handcuffs had slid too far down her arms and were cutting into her hands, the officer attempted to adjust them for her.

“I don’t know how to get out,” she said then, as he tried to help her out of the vehicle. “I don’t know how to get out.”

“One leg and then the other,” was the officer’s calm reply.

“I don’t know how to get out,” she said again and again, and the footage ended shortly after she finally stepped out of the vehicle and stood barefoot next to the door.
