PS 075, a school on the Upper West Side, hosted the play without providing any warning to the parents in attendance.

The dance was choreographed to “Glory” by singer John Legend and rapper Common, a song with lyrics referencing Ferguson, Missouri, where black teen Michael Brown was shot by white police officer Darren Wilson. Wilson stated that the shooting was in self-defense, and that Brown attacked him in his vehicle and attempted to take his weapon.

During the chorus, children were instructed to kneel, mimicking former San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his refusal to stand during the national anthem before NFL games. After the performance, students held up signs with leftist slogans, including “ICE Out.”

The dance routine is only the latest form of leftist indoctrination at PS 075. The school also hosts a “Rainbow Room” where children as young as kindergarten can access LGBTQ content without parental knowledge or consent, as well as an all-gender bathroom in which there has been ongoing harassment of girls, according to parents.

The performance was organized by a teacher named Shahreen Karim. For Multicultural Day 2024, Karim organized “The Dabke Dance,” an Arab folk dance often performed at pro-Palestinian rallies. Karim is also the head of the school’s multicultural committee.

An NYPD officer called the performance “F*cking insane.”

“This is beyond inappropriate; it’s outrageous. Having fifth graders pretend to be shot by police is not education; it’s political indoctrination and exploitation of children,” he told the New York Post.

PS 075 also hosted a reading of a transgender book to seven-year-old students without providing any notice to parents.

The New York City Department of Education said they intend to require schools to give parents advance notice of such school events.

The Department of Education did not issue a condemnation of the performance or announce any disciplinary action against the school.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
