We’re Hearing From A Lindsay Clancy Male Juror For The First Time

The first male juror in Lindsay Clancy’s triple-murder trial is breaking his silence — taking outsiders inside 38 hours of heated deliberations and throwing shade at the lone male juror who refused to budge in the emotionally charged trial that captivated and divided the country.

Nick Dargie, 25, one of three men on the hopelessly deadlocked panel, was “devastated” that the Massachusetts jury couldn’t set Clancy free, despite admitting she strangled her three young children to death: 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan.

In an interview with ABC News that aired on Wednesday, Dargie, who was serving overseas at the time of the Clancy killings, took shots at the lone holdout, who stood firm as the other 11 jurors urged him to change his mind and find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity.

“There [were] several times I would ask him to show us, like, evidence or, you know, describe a witness testimony that helped to prove what he was saying. And — and he couldn’t. There wasn’t a single piece of evidence or witness testimony that he used to prove why he was thinking the way he was, which is why we ultimately sent in that note,” Dargie told the outlet.

Dargie was referring to the stunning note the foreperson sent to Judge William Sullivan, alleging that one juror was refusing to follow and apply the law on reasonable doubt. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington repeatedly moved to remove the holdout juror. His requests were denied.

“Otherwise, like, there’s nothing wrong with somebody having a completely opposite opinion. That’s — you know, that would be a hung jury. That — like, that is our justice system,” Dargie said of the tense seven-day deliberations.

Dargie, who was Juror No. 10, accused the holdout of disengaging from deliberations and scrolling on his phone as the other jurors urged him to change his mind. He also revealed that the holdout mimicked the Clancy killings by wrapping one of the exercise bands around a water bottle.

“I was shocked. It didn’t make any sense to me. We’re not here to play detective — it’s not a game of Clue. This is serious,” Dargie said in the interview. “I asked him, ‘Why are you doing that?’ That’s disgusting.”

Dargie is the fifth juror to speak publicly and criticize the lone holdout for refusing to acquit Clancy on the murder charges, The Daily Wire previously reported.

The jury foreperson, identified as an older woman named Roni, described one particularly frustrating moment when she believed the panel had finally reached a breakthrough.

“He had reasonable doubt,” Roni told NBC Boston. “He admitted he had reasonable doubt after we watched that video of the interview.”

Roni said she became so convinced the jury was finally prepared to move forward that she began filling out the required forms with glee.

“I started filling out the forms. I was so excited,” she said. “I actually — there were three forms I had to fill out, and I started filling them out. I wrote my signature on each one.”

In January 2023, Clancy led her three young children to the basement of their Duxbury home and strangled them one by one with exercise bands. She never disputed that she killed her children, but her defense argued that she was in the throes of postpartum psychosis and suffered a mental break while her husband, Patrick, was out running errands for the family of five.

More than three years later, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Friday after the jury of nine women and three men failed to reach a verdict following 38 hours of deliberations.

“With a heavy heart, we report we cannot come to a unanimous decision,” the jurors wrote in their final note to the judge.

The most serious charges Clancy faced were three counts of first-degree murder, each carrying a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. She is expected to remain at Tewksbury State Hospital, a psychiatric hospital, for now. Reddington is now pushing to throw out the case completely and even pleaded with President Donald Trump for a pardon, despite the president having no authority to pardon someone for a state offense.

At a Friday press conference, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz vowed to pursue justice for the three victims but stopped short of saying his office would retry the case.

“Our priority has always been to fight for Cora, for Dawson, and for Callan. The noise in this case may be louder than it is for other prosecutions in our county, but we have treated it the same as any other case,” Cruz said. “Children were murdered, and it’s our job to seek justice.”
