Last month, a Facebook account belonging to a dentist named Babak Salahbin sent an unsolicited message to a group called Physicians Against Antisemitism, writing “take you and your nose and the noses of your family and move to ‘Israel’ where I hope an Iranian missle [sic] finds you and yours you Zionist scum!”

Normally, recipients of such a message might think to report him to his bosses at Kakar Dental Group — but the owner, Sonu Kakar, has played a role in the takeover of Washington’s elite real estate world by Islamist regimes. He built a $28 million home near the CIA’s headquarters and sold it to the government of the United Arab Emirates last year in what was advertised as the priciest home sale on the East Coast since 2021.
The purchase came after the Medicaid welfare program paid $12 million to Kakar’s dental companies between 2018 and the first half of 2023, federal records show. More than $6 million was paid for work done personally by Kakar — who also goes by the first name Deepak — while the rest came from services performed by his employees, nearly all of whom had foreign names.
Salahbin billed $1.8 million to Medicaid. He now runs Ashburn Modern Dentistry, but almost all of his Medicaid billing came through Kakar.
Reviews on Kakar’s Yelp page, where he has a one-star rating, raise questions about whether unnecessary Medicaid charges might not just waste taxpayer dollars, but actually cause harm.
Numerous patients suggested that Kakar Dental Group performed painful and unneeded procedures on children in order to rack up a bill. “I had to take my son to get a second opinion after Dr. Kakar suggested he needed four root canals…..on a 4 YEAR OLD!” one said.
Another said “the dentist was very rude, he was arrogant…. We did find another dentist and they disagree with Dr. Kakar’s findings. My son does not need 4 cavities and extraction and a crown… I have filed grievances with the Commonwealth of Virginia and with the Medicaid office in Virginia.”
Yet another said “I was in a horror movie when I heard the agonizing screams of my son ‘Stop, please stop, it hurts!’ I ran back and opened the door to see the assistant literally laying on top of him holding him down while Dr Kakar drilled away. She let him up when she saw me and my son had a mouth full of blood which the dentist yelled at him for getting blood on his chair.”
One of the reviews named Salahbin, saying his “behavior[] was very bad and he even wasn’t kind with my children and he said bad words in Persian to me and my children.”
Kakar Dental Group sent a message to Physicians Against Antisemitism saying “These [sic] is Babak’s personal statement. It doesn’t reflect our company’s opinion on a political matter.”
Sonu Kakar told The Daily Wire in an interview that Salahbin later told him his Facebook account had been hacked and denied sending the message. Kakar said he had no anti-Jewish sentiment himself, saying “I grew up in India. We are the closest allies to Israel.” Salahbin did not return a request for comment.
Public records show that Salahbin has had repeated run-ins with the law, including misdemeanor criminal convictions for reckless driving and subway fare evasion. A risk with law-breaking doctors, though it has not been alleged about Salahbin, is that they could engage in taxpayer-funded drug dealing by billing Medicaid for drugs that are resold on the street.
Kakar, for his part, is certainly living the high life, posting next to a Bentley outside of the mansion he built in a photograph he posted to Facebook.
The Wall Street Journal reported last year that “local dentist and entrepreneur Dr. Sonu Kakar” bought land for $2.1 million in 2018, built a 21,000-square-foot-house there by 2024, and listed it for sale at $30 million.
The Journal said the house was built on “spec,” meaning without a buyer in mind — though doing so is extraordinarily unusual given that zero buyers on the East Coast had paid that much for a house since Dan Snyder, the owner of Washington’s football team, bought his mansion half a decade ago.
Advertising materials showed a motorcade of Cadillac Escalades rolling up the driveway, evocative of its eventual buyer. It was taken off the market in May 2025, then bought off-market in an all-cash deal by the United Arab Emirates’ lawyers in September 2025.

Kakar used some of the profits to purchase 221 Chain Bridge Road in Arlington for $15 million. That’s a signal that its likely future is to grow the blob of Islamic-owned mega-estates that are swallowing that road, once the home to Washington political insiders and Americana emblems like Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
The Daily Wire documented in 2024 that the “Gold Coast” along the Potomac River was becoming a second Gulf Coast. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has turned the childhood home of JFK’s bride, next to the house where JFK’s brother Ted Kennedy lived until his death, into a $130 million compound. Also on Chain Bridge, the State of Qatar owns a $20 million property.
The United Arab Emirates owned $62 million in properties on the road prior to the $28 million purchase. In addition, an anonymous LLC reportedly tied to a UAE national has bought up numerous neighboring properties totaling $70 million, including one previously occupied by a co-founder of AOL and another by a former governor of Virginia.
That compound at 600 Chain Bridge Rd. is directly across the street from the home of former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, whose home was the subject of around-the-clock anti-Israel protests. When I knocked on the door of the compound’s main business, a Middle Eastern man in sunglasses told me “Get out… please don’t ask questions.”
Kakar declined to discuss the details of his home-building business, but told The Daily Wire “We took loans. My dentistry has nothing to do with that … I have partners.”
Kakar is business partners in numerous LLCs with the name “Miami Vice” alongside a man named Amr Mohamed Alian. Miami Vice Capital says it’s a private equity firm focused on dentistry and Miami real estate, though it doesn’t list Kakar on its staff page.
