America’s Conservative Bastion Has Democrats Seeing Red

A viral AI-generated video recently put out by the Babylon Bee imagines a Democrat-free version of America. Families gather around a dinner table, people walk down the clean, “vagrant-free” streets of San Francisco, children marvel at a rainbow that’s “a symbol of God’s promise and nothing else.” 

And, obviously, gun owners wander around aimlessly because there are no criminals left to shoot. 

We are nowhere near this utopian vision, but there are certain states in the union creeping ever closer. Namely, the great state of Tennessee. 

This week, Tennessee Republicans voted to approve new congressional maps that will likely wipe out the Democrats’ only U.S. House seat in the state, and Republican Governor Bill Lee signed the bill into law shortly after the vote. The special session in Tennessee’s capital was quickly organized after the Supreme Court ruled that certain majority-black districts put in place by the Voting Rights Act amounted to unconstitutional racial gerrymandering.

Simply put, the tiny blue blip in Tennessee has been wiped away, making the state completely, blissfully, red. This change reflects the reality of a state Trump won solidly in 2024. A refuge that blue state Democrats keep moving to.

Low taxes. Functional cities. Country music. SEC football. People who still wave at each other in parking lots. And yes, a state government that takes action when it needs to rather than allowing their political opponents to intimidate them into submission.
