Another Dem Wears Hijab With Hamas-Praising Imam

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is under fire after attending a Bronx mosque dressed in a pink hijab and cozying up to a radical Islamic cleric who sang the praises of Hamas terrorists and Osama bin Laden’s spiritual mentor.

Gillibrand had kept her low-profile September 21 visit at the Bronx Muslim Center strictly under wraps, The Washington Free Beacon reported. While she blasted social media photos from other stops she made that same afternoon — which she made without the headscarf — she was silent about her undercover visit to New York’s “Little Yemen.”

But photos posted online by the center’s director of outreach exposed Gillibrand posing alongside Imam Hamud Alsilwi, who has led the mosque since 1998.

Alsilwi boasts a track record of celebrating antisemitic terror. He gushed in a 2016 post that the Muslim Brotherhood “harmed no one except the Jews and Israel,” while cheering Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin for “causing so much trouble for the Jews in Palestine.”

Alsilwi also publicly mourned designated terrorist Sheikh Abdul Majeed al-Zindani following his death in 2024. Washington branded al-Zindani an international terrorist back in 2004 for acting as bin Laden’s spiritual adviser, funding al-Qaeda, and recruiting jihadists.

The hijab-wearing incident is the latest in a pattern of top Empire State Democrats wearing headscarves to pander for votes.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul touched off a firestorm just weeks earlier after wearing a black hijab at a Manhattan mosque shortly before the 9/11 anniversary. The stunt brought swift condemnation from President Donald Trump, who mocked her for pandering.

Iranian dissidents tore into Hochul’s “cosplay,” pointing out that brave women in Iran are routinely beaten, imprisoned, and executed by Tehran’s brutal morality police over the exact same headscarf.

Gillibrand and Hochul aren’t the only ones pulling the move. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) also sparked fierce backlash earlier this year after donning a hijab to address an outdoor crowd in the Bronx alongside socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

While courageous women across the globe risk their lives chanting “Woman, Life, Freedom” as they remove enforced religious coverings, New York’s top Democratic politicians seem more than happy to drape themselves in them if it buys them a few extra votes.

Even if it means rubbing elbows with friends of terror.
