Sen. Jon Ossoff has become quite popular among the nation’s socialists, but one thing is clear: He masks his record and how he represents Georgians.

Former President Barack Obama is set to campaign with Ossoff and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Wednesday evening in Morrow, Georgia, south of Atlanta.
With less than one week to go until Election Day, the senator’s opponents are focusing their message on Ossoff’s links to socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America.
“It’s no wonder why President Obama is coming to campaign with Ossoff: [He is] going to run as the socialist candidate for President in 2028,” Georgia GOP chair Josh McKoon said in a press release.
The Georgia Republican Party on Wednesday launched a website called “Ossoff’s Bill,” backing such claims.
“With Ossoff as senator, YOU pay the bill,” the website states. The site covers the senator’s impact on Georgians’ groceries, rent, power bills, taxes, and more, while calling attention to his endorsement from Sen. Bernie Sanders and alignment with DSA policies.
Ties to the Democratic Socialists of America
While Ossoff portrays himself as a moderate out on the campaign trail, his support of far-left candidates is clear.
Ossoff has backed the Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, saying, “The primary is in the past, and the nominee has my support.”
El-Sayed, a Muslim born to Egyptian parents, is on record saying that it’s “critical” that Democrats welcome Hasan Piker, who has been criticized for saying “America deserved 9/11.”
The Senator’s Outside Funding
As also noted on the “Ossoff’s Bill” website, 82% of Ossoff’s campaign contributions come from outside of the Peach State, with California donors giving about the same as Georgia donors. As of August, Ossoff received nearly 85% of total funds, roughly $53 million, from out-of-state donors, according to Open Secrets.
While Ossoff has attacked Trump’s administration for rising prices, under former President Joe Biden’s administration and throughout Ossoff’s time as senator, grocery prices in the South saw a drastic increase, rising by 23.5% from January 2021 to January 2025, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
He also voted against a 2025 Republican tax package that included tax deductions on tips and overtime pay, and he voted in 2021 for the American Rescue Plan Act, a $1.9 trillion spending package that forced Americans across the country to foot the bill for the legislation’s stimulus to aid recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the passage of the act, the federal government’s debt surpassed $28 trillion and continued to climb another $2 trillion only a few months later.
In addition, his record shows that he voted 18 times to prolong the fall 2025 government shutdown as Americans struggled, adding to the chaos of canceled flights that ensued at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last November.
The Ossoff campaign did not respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment.
