Speaking directly to junior officers and non-commissioned officers, whom he called the “backbone of our force,” Hegseth declared that the military has officially abandoned woke policies to focus strictly on warfighting, readiness, and total lethality.

“Simply put, thanks to the courageous and common sense leadership of our commander in chief, President Donald J. Trump, the state of our force today is stronger than it’s ever been in our nation’s history,” Hegseth announced, declaring that “the ideological clowns are out. The patriotic cowboys are in.”

Unveiling a sweep of brand-new initiatives, Hegseth laid out six core policy announcements designed to reshape how the military operates, builds, recruits, and prays:

  1. Autonomous Warfare Command (AUTOWARCOM): A new four-star combatant command created to scale up drone, AI, and robotic capabilities, transition away from legacy-only hardware, and field high-tech strike capabilities at record speed via “Project Agincourt.”
  2. Project Meridian: A futuristic 120-day study group focused on long-term battlefield tech and dominance, co-led by high-profile private sector giants Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
  3. Fortress America: A national security supply initiative aimed at making domestic military bases independent of civilian energy grids and bringing supply chains—including rare earths, microchips, and munitions—entirely back onto U.S. soil.
  4. The Next Great American Base: A nationwide competition asking state governors to pitch land and red-tape cuts to build the first brand-new, classical-style U.S. military installation in 40 years, housing up to 25,000 troops.
  5. America’s Corps of Cadets: An expansion of officer commissioning pipelines partnering with institutions like LSU, Liberty University, Tuskegee, Mississippi State, and Hillsdale College to create a new generation of patriotic, discipline-focused officer candidates.
  6. Office of Religious Affairs: A newly established department reporting directly to the Secretary of War to cut through red tape, protect chapel budgets, and prioritize spiritual readiness for service members who identify with a faith.

Hegseth didn’t hold back when addressing the culture shift across the Pentagon, taking direct aim at legacy media coverage, previous administration policies, and institutional DEI programs.

“In today’s War Department, military sexual assaults are down. In today’s War Department, military suicides are down. In today’s war department, black and female recruitment are up, even though all the quotas are gone,” he said. “Hmm, shocking. How could that be? Quite an inconvenient truth that doesn’t quite fit their narrative, does it?”

“Allow me to lay it out simply for the anti-American losers in our media,” he continued. “These Americans right here and their peers, these have destroyed Iran’s Navy, destroyed Iran’s Air Force, destroyed their air defense systems, their leadership and their military industrial capacity, their entire defense base. Iran’s conventional shield has been crippled and their nuclear ambitions laid bare for the world. You, this group, are ensuring that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon.”

“You see, it’s your movements and bases that they reveal to the enemy,” Hegseth added. “It’s your operations that they jeopardize when they leak classified capabilities. And ultimately, it’s your lives they put directly at risk when they lie about munitions stockpiles. All for a banner that will scroll on TV for 30 seconds. And I know a little bit about banners scrolling on TV for 30 seconds.”

Taking a victory lap on standardizing physical fitness tests and stripping away identity-based initiatives, he fired off a blunt translation for the press: “No fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals. Just warriors.”

Hegseth urged Congress to quickly pass a $350 billion reconciliation package to fund these sweeping efforts, calling it a vital investment to outpace foreign adversaries.

Closing out his speech, Hegseth reminded the service members in attendance that they represent a distinct class set apart from civilian life, bound by a higher calling and an oath to defend the republic. “Lethality is your calling card and victory your only acceptable end state,” Hegseth told the crowd, assuring them that both he and the commander-in-chief have their backs as the department moves forward with its updated mission.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
