Newly released details indicate that Jordan Elliott got into a dispute with fellow Titans offensive tackle JC Latham during a practice on October 15. The argument spilled into the locker room, and Elliott was told to leave. The athlete took off his pads and stormed out of the facility to retrieve a gun from his vehicle in the players’ parking garage, according to the New York Post.

Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly talked Elliott down, stopping any potential violence. The incident was captured by security cameras.

An NFL source told KPRC2 that the incident was “absolutely crazy” and unnecessary.

“Jordan has been having a lot of problems away from the building and obviously he brought it to work with him. There was no reason for him to go off like that. Everyone thought that was wild. To overreact like that is absolutely crazy,” the source said, adding, “We’re just glad that no one got hurt and it’s over.”

Elliott, who recently signed a two-year contract worth $8 million, was released by the team on Tuesday. The Titans issued the following statement about the matter: “On Thursday, October 15th, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter,” per Titans Wire.

The 28-year-old was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft before spending time with the San Francisco 49ers. He joined the Titans in the offseason, reuniting with head coach Robert Saleh, who previously worked with him in San Francisco. Elliott appeared in Tennessee’s first five games this season, recording 11 tackles, but missed Friday’s practice for personal reasons and was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Saleh said last Friday that Elliott “was dealing with some personal stuff,” when discussing his absence, according to the New York Post.

Despite the reported involvement of a firearm, the Metro Nashville Police Department told A to Z Sports that it had received no reports of the incident and had not been contacted by the team about it. The Titans have not publicly detailed what happened or explained which specific actions led to Elliott’s release.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
