“Primetime” star Robert Pattinson was reportedly bribed to star in the film with 200 canisters of Zyn, a popular brand of tobacco-free nicotine pouches.

Originally, the “Batman” star was only planning to serve as producer on the A24 project. But screenwriter Ajon Singh changed the script to convince Pattinson to take the lead role. Then, director Lance Oppenheim came up with a unique bribe.
“Rob, at the time, was grappling with a Zyn addiction,” Oppenheim told Vulture of the ploy. Due to a Zyn shortage in the U.S. at the time, the director had a friend in Canada send 200 canisters to Pattinson’s home in Los Angeles.
Oppenheim sent the revised draft of “Primetime” to the actor and enclosed a letter that said, “Dear Chris Han-Zyn.”

That was apparently enough to convince him. Pattinson called Oppenheim and said he was willing to take on the role.
“It was like LeBron making the announcement that he was joining the Heat,” the director recalled.
The film has been generating Oscar buzz and was a commercial success, but reception has been mixed as it portrays longtime “To Catch a Predator” host Chris Hansen as the villain when he was the one catching would-be child sex offenders in the act on the show.
“I think it shows people what Hollywood is really about,” Hansen said on his podcast, “Have a Seat With Chris Hansen.” Maybe that’s no surprise for a film that comes out of the same entertainment machine that propped up Harvey Weinstein. But Hansen claims production company A24 “exploited” his true story for grossly dramatic effect.
“You hope people realize that there’s no way it can be true,” Hansen said.
“It was so detached from reality or anything that I’ve ever experienced then or now, doing the investigations, I’m not sure what the point of it was,” he said, as The Daily Wire previously reported. “In a way, it’s a hit piece on me and the series. Which is weird because all we do is expose bad human beings who try to hurt children.”
Hansen is currently shopping his “I Am Chris Hansen” documentary. He described it as “a project, a film, in which I cooperated, produced by folks I knew and worked with. And it was in the works well before we ever heard of ‘Primetime.’”
