The 82-year-old “Copacabana” singer gave an update to fans with a statement posted to Instagram.

“The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed,” Manilow wrote in the statement.

“It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” he went on. “The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis.”

The singer said he is “going into surgery to have the spot removed,” which means he’ll have to reschedule the January shows on his “Christmas: A Gift of Love” series. He promised to return to the stage on Valentine’s Day weekend in 2026.

Manilow apologized for the inconvenience, telling fans, “We were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.” He also urged his followers to stay vigilant when it comes to their health.

“I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. And remember, if you have even the slightest symptom, get tested!” the statement concluded.

Manilow, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and producer, rose to fame in the 1970s with a string of pop hits like “Mandy,” “Copacabana,” and “Can’t Smile Without You.” Before becoming a superstar, he built a career writing jingles and arranging music for major artists such as Bette Midler. Manilow’s career spans five decades, during which he has sold millions of records and acquired a devoted fan base who call themselves “Fanilows.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
