Election Day Push: Even Dems Are Endorsing NJ’s Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Jack Ciattarelli

New Jersey GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli is picking up a huge number of endorsements from elected Democrats in the state, as his hotly contested election against Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill nears Election Day.

At least a dozen Democratic mayors are now backing Ciattarelli for governor over Sherrill. The mayors include North Bergen’s Nick Sacco, Dover Mayor Jim Dodd, Garfield Mayor Everett Garnto Jr., and Branchville Mayor Anthony Frato.

The huge mayoral backing comes in addition to other elected Democrats endorsing Ciattarelli, too. North Bergen Commissioner Allen Pascual, a Democrat, for example, has endorsed Ciattarelli, as have Democrat Branchville Councilman Jeff Lewis and former Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Anthony Vainieri.

“When Democratic mayors are endorsing the Republican nominee, it tells you how badly people want change,” Ciattarelli told Fox News over the weekend. “We’ve racked up at least 12 Democratic mayors who have endorsed me.”

As noted by Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany, Sherrill has received the backing of far-left New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a radical self-described democratic socialist who’s been criticized for embracing communist policies and rhetoric. Sherrill has tried her best to distance herself from Mamdani’s endorsement.

Two polls released this week show Ciattarelli and Sherrill statistically tied, a major boost for Ciattarelli, who’s been closing in on his opponent’s lead in a state that traditionally favors Democrats.

One poll found Sherrill had a 44% favorability rating and a 45% unfavorable rating, while Ciattarelli scored 46% favorability and 46% unfavorable, according to Newsweek.

Sherrill has been plagued by a number of scandals during this election, including a cheating scandal from her Naval Academy days. In 1994, the academy’s commencement program did not list Sherrill’s name, and she was banned from walking at the graduation ceremony.

The Democrat has also been questioned about the reported $7 million she made from stock trades. Sherrill was fined for violating the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act of 2012, known as the STOCK Act.

Additionally, as reported by The Daily Wire earlier this week, Sherrill has refused to condemn the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) for its promotion of woke drag culture inside the classroom for state public school educators.

The NJEA is behind one of the top-spending political groups in the state and strongly endorsed Sherrill last month. In the days following the election, the NJEA is set to host an event to celebrate “the vibrant world of drag” for public school teachers.

The event, called “Drag is not a Crime: The Past, Present, and Future of Drag,” is part of the NJEA Consortium program, an initiative to boost diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on minority communities in K-12 classrooms across New Jersey.

The New Jersey Project promoted the event with a post emphasizing the need to “ignite creativity in the classroom” and how “drag is what education is all about.”

Ciattarelli’s campaign told The Daily Wire that the NJEA and Sherrill don’t care about education and teachers. “Drag might not be a crime, but looking the other way while 80% of third graders in some of New Jersey’s schools can’t read at grade level should be,” a campaign strategist for Ciattarelli said.

“The NJEA and far-left politicians like Mikie Sherrill could care less about education or teachers,” the statement continued. “The NJEA’s core mission is preserving political power, pushing an extreme ‘woke’ agenda on young children, and propping up out-of-touch politicians like Mikie Sherrill who vote against parental rights.”

“When Jack Ciattarelli is Governor, parents are back in charge and the NJEA is in timeout,” the strategist added.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
