Embattled Tennessee Dem Aftyn Behn Offers ‘Proof’ She Doesn’t Hate Nashville

Embattled Democrat Aftyn Behn, currently vying for a House seat in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, attempted to do some damage control after an audio recording of her saying that she “hates” everything about Nashville went viral — and her defense may have made the situation worse.

Behn, appearing on the Breaking Points podcast, fielded a question about her comment and claimed that she couldn’t possibly hate country music because she was “conceived after a George Strait concert.”

One of the hosts began by repeating her previous comment for context: “Apparently you said, ‘I hate the city, I hate the Tennessee bachelorettes, I hate pedal taverns, I hate country music, I hate all the things that make Nashville … I hate it.'”

“The bachelorette part is a little bit fair,” one of the others joked. “So we won’t make you weigh in on that, Aftyn.”

“It’s so fair,” another agreed.

“But what would you like to say about this clip that’s floating around?”

“So, I’m going to say something I haven’t said,” Behn replied. “And I think it’s funny, I hope my parents don’t kill me, but I do not hate country music. I was conceived after a George Strait concert, so … I feel personally attacked.”

Behn also raised eyebrows with another audio clip in which she could be heard describing a recurring dream that she had discussed with her therapist.

“My therapist always asks me to transcribe my dreams when they happen, and the recurring dream I’ve had is standing up in a cafeteria full of women — I don’t know why I was there or whatever — and saying, ‘I don’t want children. I want power!’ And just screaming it at the top of my lungs,” she recalled.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
