EXCLUSIVE: Illegal Immigrant Trucker Killed Pedestrian While Wearing ICE GPS Tracker

He was driving an 18-wheeler while wearing a GPS monitor issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when he fatally hit a man on a major interstate.

Illegal immigrant Sube Singh, an Indian national, is accused of fatally striking 36-year-old Dedric Garrett while driving down I-20 in Hinds County, Mississippi, on Thursday.

Singh, who was driving a 2021 Freightliner, allegedly struck Garrett as he exited his 2016 Honda CR-V, according to WLBT 3. First responders pronounced Garrett dead at the scene.

Singh was not injured, the local news outlet reported.

Border Patrol agents encountered Singh on November 19, 2017, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesman told The Daily Wire. He was later placed into ICE custody before being released on bond on May 10, 2018.

Following Singh’s release, ICE placed him in their alternatives to detention program, which allowed officers to monitor him with a GPS tracking device, the spokesman said. ICE’s GPS monitors include ankle bracelets and wrist-worn devices.

In an X post Monday, Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) called Garrett’s death and others caused by illegal immigrant truckers “preventable.”

“If you are in our country illegally or can’t speak and understand English, you have no business operating an 80,000-pound semi-truck,” Nehls wrote. “It’s common sense.”

In response to a string of recent collisions involving illegal immigrant truckers, the Trump administration has introduced a series of new policies to take unqualified foreign drivers off American roads.

The changes include the enforcement of English-language requirements for those looking to obtain commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs).

The Trump administration has also kickstarted an initiative to train American veterans to replace illegal immigrant truck drivers.

Veterans with two years of experience safely operating heavy military vehicles will be allowed to bypass the traditional CDL training process, which takes roughly three to eight weeks and often costs applicants between $3,000 and $6,000.

The DHS spokesman said the department “is aggressively working with its interagency partners to get illegal alien commercial drivers off the road.”

As part of the crackdown, ICE officers have made arrests at trucking weigh stations across the country in recent months. During a three-day operation in July, federal authorities detained 21 illegal immigrant drivers with non-domiciled commercial driver licenses (CDLs) issued by California and New York, according to DHS.

“It is incredibly dangerous for illegal aliens, who often don’t know our traffic laws or even English, to be operating vehicles on America’s roads,” the spokesman said.
