Georgia’s most populous county will sue the Trump administration over the recent FBI raid looking for data on the 2020 election, County Commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr. said.

Arrington announced plans for a lawsuit on social media Monday morning after the FBI raid on the Fulton County Election Hub last week.
Arrington said the county attorneys will file a motion in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia to “force the government to return the ballots taken.”
“The search warrant, I believe, is not proper, but I think that there are ways that we can limit it,” he said in a press release. “We want to ask for forensic accounting, we want the documents to stay in the State of Georgia under seal, and we want to do whatever we can to protect voter information.”
The FBI is investigating the potential violation of two federal election laws by Fulton County election officials. One makes it illegal for election officials to either intimidate voters or submit fraudulent ballots or voter registration applications. The other law requires officials to keep federal election records for 22 months. U.S. Magistrate Judge Catherine Salinas signed the search warrant.
During an interview Monday on the Dan Bongino Show, President Donald Trump—who has long claimed the 2020 election was stolen—said it may be time to “nationalize the voting.”
“We have states that are so crooked and they are counting votes. We have states that I won that show I didn’t,” Trump told Bongino, who until recently was the deputy FBI director. “Now you are going to see something in Georgia, where they were able to get with a court order, with the ballots, you’re going to see some interesting things come out.”
As The Daily Signal previously reported, Fulton County has also faced scrutiny from state officials for its election rolls.
The Georgia State Elections Board has been investigating the county’s voter registration rolls for double registrations, registrants without a date of birth, and other problems.
“The State Elections Board is willing to provide any assistance to the FBI, and we expect to have questions for county officials at our next meeting,” State Elections Board Vice Chairwoman Janice Johnston told The Daily Signal.
The board has subpoenaed documents from the Fulton County Elections office.
Last week, Georgia state Sen. Greg Dolezal, a Republican, spoke on the Senate floor and released a video claiming that Fulton County voters were registered at UPS stores and commercial properties.
“Fulton County’s voter rolls are, have been, and continue to be a complete mess,” Dolezal said.
The Daily Signal contacted Arrington, the Fulton County commissioner, Fulton County Elections Director Nadine Williams, and county elections board Chairwoman Sherri Allen on Monday for comment. None immediately responded to inquiries.
