Dems Roll Out Predictable Playbook As Trump Prioritizes Global Safety

Congressional Democrats called for impeachment, invoking the 25th Amendment, and accused President Donald Trump of threatening genocide before and after the White House agreed to a two-week ceasefire with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The deal is contingent on the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a move that pushed down oil prices and lifted stock futures early Wednesday.

“This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.”

Announced hours before his 8 p.m. Tuesday deadline, the ceasefire followed a morning threat that “a whole civilization will die” without an agreement, drawing outrage from Democrats who questioned the president’s mental fitness and urged the U.S. military to ignore unlawful orders.

“This is a threat of genocide and merits removal from office. The President’s mental faculties are collapsing and cannot be trusted,” Congresswoman Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) said.

“To every individual in the President’s chain of command: You have a duty to refuse illegal orders. That includes carrying out this threat. This is a threat of genocide and merits removal from office. The President’s mental faculties are collapsing and cannot be trusted. To every individual in the President’s chain of command: You have a duty to refuse illegal orders. That includes carrying out this threat.”

News of the ceasefire “changes nothing,” AOC later said, arguing the president launched a war without congressional authorization and is leveraging the threat of genocide.

“Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink,” she said.

Rep. Melania Stansbury (D-NM) urged administration officials to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would allow the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare the president unfit to serve.

“Just because a President announces he’s agreed to a two week ceasefire moments before he threatened to commit war crimes, does not mean he is suddenly fit to serve. #25thAmendment,” Stansbury wrote.

More than 85 House Democrats have called for President Trump’s removal from office, according to Axios.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) accused Trump of “threatening mass death if he doesn’t get his way.” She urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to reconvene the chamber.

“Congress needs to pull the emergency brake now,” she said in a social media video. “Every Republican who votes to let this war continue bears a portion of the responsibility for what is happening in Trump’s war.”

For Republicans like Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL), the Truth Social threat was part of a broader negotiating strategy.

It’s called The Art of the Deal for a reason, panicans and leftists,” Fine said. “Nobody does it like President Trump.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
