Southern Poverty Law Center Outrage Offers a Silver Lining

The third attempt on President Donald J. Trump’s life was last week’s most hideous story. The second ugliest involved the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Oddly enough, this outrage has a gleaming silver lining. But first, the coal-black shadows.

The Justice Department slapped an 11-count federal indictment on Montgomery, Alabama-based SPLC. Its website states its primary aim: “to dismantle white supremacy.”

SPLC survives on contributions. “However, unbeknownst to donors, some of their donated money was being used to fund the leaders and organizers of racist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nation, and the National Alliance,” DOJ’s indictment reads. “The SPLC’s paid informants (‘field sources’) engaged in the active promotion of racist groups at the same time that the SPLC was denouncing the same groups on its website.”

An SPLC asset (“F-37”) helped plan August 2017’s “Unite the Right” hatefest in Charlottesville, Virginia. “That field source made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees.” DOJ says that “SPLC secretly paid F-37 more than $270,000.00.”

This SPLC-financed race riot lured white nationalist James Alex Fields Jr., 20. He plowed his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of anti-racists and fatally struck Heather Heyer, 32. SPLC wades in her blood.

“F-9” raised funds for the neo-Nazi organization National Alliance. DOJ: “SPLC secretly paid F-9 more than $1,000,000.00.”

SPLC used an “Extremist File” fundraising webpage to stymie “F-42,” the National Alliance’s former chairman. SPLC then allegedly paid him $140,000.00.

Justice says SPLC subsidized “F-43”: national president of American Front, a Jew-hating skinhead organization. F-43 also happens to be a federal felon convicted of cross burning. That’s right. SPLC paid $19,000 to an actual cross-burner!

The imperial wizard of the United Klans of America was another “F.” UKA perpetrated “the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Ala.” This 1963 blast killed four little girls, including Denise McNair, 11. Her surviving playmates included a neighbor, 8, named Condoleezza Rice.

The former grand wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan also scored SPLC cash.

“Between 2014 and 2023,” the indictment continues, “the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in SPLC funds to the Fs who were associated with various violent extremist groups.” This money reached hateful “leaders and others” to the “benefit of the individuals as well as the violent extremist groups.”

DOJ says that SPLC fraudulently paid these racists via phony, seemingly harmless outfits such as North West Tech, Tech Writers Group, and Rare Books Warehouse. As DOJ explains, “These fictitious entities were never incorporated, had no bona fide employees, and conducted no actual business.” DOJ adds: “These financial transactions were designed to conceal the true nature, source, ownership, and control of the donated funds the SPLC was paying to the Fs.”

Translation: Money laundering.

So, SPLC fleeced sincere anti-racists, surreptitiously funneled their gifts to racist groups and their leaders, and then re-monetized the ensuing racist acts, pro bono SPLC.

Rinse.

Repeat.

SPLC’s scheme is as Kaopectate-grade nauseating as Alcoholics Anonymous secretly paying bartenders to overserve their patrons and send them stumbling into AA meetings.

Nonetheless, this is excellent news.

The Left insists that America has been racist since 1619. Technically, blacks are not slaves. So what? Whites oppress helpless blacks. Republicans demand photo ID to disenfranchise black voters. Wicked white cops murder black men for laughs.

And yet, despite AmeriKKKa’s “inescapable racism,” Alabama-based SPLC staffers could not simply walk across the street to find violent bigots to vanquish. Instead, they concocted an elaborate, $3 million psy-op to foment racism, justify its own existence, and fuel further donations.

Likewise, plenty of American “racism” is more synthetic than polyester.

• Failed actor Jussie Smollett’s January 2019 “beating” by MAGA-hat-wearing racists in Chicago (not precisely Trump Country) was totally invented. To boost his career, this odious punk hired two Nigerian brothers to attack him in an anti-black, homophobic “hate crime.”

• The dinosaur media excoriated Kyle Rittenhouse as a pro-Trump white-nationalist. Oops! Kenosha, Wisconsin’s self-defense shooter told Fox News that he was a pro-Andrew Yang BLM supporter

• A black student at Air Force Academy Preparatory School claimed in September 2017 that racists wrote, “go home nigger” on his dormitory whiteboard. Investigators concluded that the victim himself penned that slur, to mask his misconduct elsewhere.

• A “noose” near black NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace’s Chevrolet Camaro ignited a racial inferno. Since at least October 2019, this mere coiled rope opened the garage door at Talladega Superspeedway assigned to Wallace in June 2020. Thus, the FBI dismissed hate-crime suspicions.

Author Wilfred Reilly documented more than 100 equally bogus episodes in Hate Crime Hoax: How the Left is Selling a Fake Race War.

Meanwhile, racial arsonists ignore this nation’s enormous progress against prejudice. Voters easily elected and re-elected Obama, America’s first black president. Kamala Harris became this country’s first half-black/half-east Indian vice-president. Democrat Lloyd Austin was the first black Pentagon chief. Republicans Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice were America’s first black secretaries of state, consecutively so. Democrats Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch were back-to-back black attorneys general.

White fans worship black athletes and artists. “Michael,” the extremely entertaining Michael Jackson biopic, already has scored $123.2 million domestically. (My advice: Experience it in IMAX and stay through the pop-hit-rich closing credits.)

If convicted, SPLC’s accused fraudmeisters deserve severe prison sentences. Behind bars, they should ponder Hoover Institution scholar Thomas Sowell’s observation: “Racism is not dead, but it is on life support—kept alive by politicians, race hustlers, and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as ‘racists.’”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
