‘Tremendous Progress’: Trump Gives Update on Peace Deal to End Ukraine-Russia War

Ukraine has agreed to the “core terms” of a peace deal to end its nearly four-year war with Russia, reports say.

“Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress with respect to ending the War between Russia and Ukraine (A War that would have NEVER started if I were President!),” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday.

According to the president, the United States’ original 28-point peace plan has been fine-tuned with input from both sides. Only a few points of disagreement remain.

“In the hopes of finalizing this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians,” he said. “I will be briefed on all progress made, along with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.”

Trump said he hopes to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin soon, “but ONLY when the deal to end this War is FINAL or, in its final stages.”

Russian negotiators met with U.S. officials, including Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, in Abu Dhabi Tuesday morning to finalize the deal. Driscoll presented the peace framework that the U.S. and Ukraine negotiated Sunday, Politico reported.

Over the weekend, U.S. officials met with Ukrainians in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the peace proposal.

Ukrainian national security official Rustem Umerov wrote on X Tuesday morning that Ukraine had reached an understanding on the “core terms” of the U.S. peace plan during the discussions in Geneva.

“We appreciate the productive and constructive meetings held in Geneva between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations, as well as President [Donald] Trump’s steadfast efforts to end the war,” Umerov said. “Our delegations reached a common understanding on the core terms of the agreement discussed in Geneva. We now count on the support of our European partners in our further steps.”

Umerov said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the U.S. “at the earliest suitable date” in order “to complete final steps and make a deal with President Trump.”

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
