Two National Guard Troops Shot Near White House, Suspect Down

Two National Guard troops were shot near the White House on Wednesday afternoon.

ABC News reported that a suspect was down, and law enforcement had secured the scene. The conditions of the National Guard troops were not immediately clear. Both of the troops were in uniform when they were shot.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that National Guardsmen had been shot, saying, “Please join me in praying for the two National Guardsmen who were just shot moments ago in Washington D.C. @DHSgov is working with local law enforcement to gather more information.”

Video taken near the Farragut West metro station showed a massive police presence following the shooting.

Over 2,300 National Guard troops were deployed to D.C. by President Donald Trump as he seeks to address violent crime in the nation’s capital. Trump’s National Guard deployment in D.C. and other cities around the country has been met with backlash from the Left.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
