Netanyahu spoke with CBS News’s Major Garrett in an interview that sired on Sunday, and he said that his goal was to see an Israel no longer dependent on aid from the United States.

“Do you believe it’s time for the state of Israel to reexamine and possibly reset its financial relationship with the United States — meaning what the United States provides to Israel on an annual basis?” Garrett asked.

Netanyahu’s reply was unequivocal: “Absolutely. And I’ve said this to President Trump, I’ve said it to our own people. Their jaws dropped, but I said, ‘Look.'”

Garrett prompted Netanyahu to elaborate, asking, “What do you mean?”

“I want to draw down to $0 the American financial support, the financial component of the military cooperation that we have, because we receive $3.8 billion a year, and I think that it’s time that we weaned ourselves from the remaining military support,” Netanyahu said.

Garrett asked whether the Israeli Prime Minister was able to give him “a timetable” or an estimate as to when he thought that could be accomplished.

“I said let’s start now and do it over the next decade, over the next ten years, but I want to start now,” he replied. “I don’t want to wait for the next congress, I wasn’t to start now, and it could go down very fast.”

Netanyahu also weighed in on the state of the ongoing war in Iran, saying that he believed much of what the United States and Israel set out to accomplish had come to pass, but that it wasn’t over yet.

“I think it accomplished a great deal, but it’s not over,” he said.

I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
