The change is set to take effect July 1, with the Federal Aviation Administration working to update navigational charts and databases as part of the transition.

The bill’s approval changes the name to “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.” Trump frequently flies out of Palm Beach International after weekend stays at his Mar-a-Lago home.

The legislation passed the Florida Senate in a 25-11 vote on February 19 and the state House 81-30 on February 17. The FAA noted that airport naming decisions are made at the local level and do not require federal approval.

“Palm Beach International Airport is now officially…. ‘President Donald J. Trump International Airport!,’” Eric Trump wrote on X. “Proud to have played a small role in making this happen.”

President Trump’s second son also thanked DeSantis, State Attorney General James Uthmeier, and State House Rep. Meg Weinberger for getting the proposal across the finish line.

Weinberger, who introduced the bill, said the renaming recognizes Trump’s ties to the Sunshine State.

“This historic recognition celebrates a President who made Florida his home and saved our great Nation,” she said. “Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this moment possible as we honor President Trump’s legacy and his extraordinary contributions to America.”

The Florida Republican Party welcomed the name change.

“Welcome to the new President Donald J. Trump International Airport — right in the heart of Palm Beach! Florida is honored to be home to this landmark tribute to President @realDonaldTrump,” the party said in a statement on social media.

Fibis I am just an average American. My teen years were in the late 70s and I participated in all that that decade offered. Started working young, too young. Then I joined the Army before I graduated High School. I spent 25 years in, mostly in Infantry units. Since then I've worked in information technology positions all at small family owned companies. At this rate I'll never be a tech millionaire. When I was young I rode horses as much as I could. I do believe I should have been a cowboy. I'm getting in the saddle again by taking riding lessons and see where it goes.
